Volvo EX60 to add Google Gemini linked to external cameras
Google and Volvo will introduce Gemini-based AI features linked to a vehicle’s external cameras in the next-generation electric SUV EX60. The system is designed to recognise the surrounding environment in real time and explain it by voice, including interpreting complex parking signs when drivers ask questions. Google said the feature could later expand to lane markings, road signs and nearby landmarks. The EX60 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and over-the-air updates.

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said the current moment could later be seen as the start of a “singularity” in the AI era. The Verge reported he made the remarks at the end of Google I/O 2026, calling it a significant moment for humanity. Hassabis linked Google’s latest AI research and products to a long-term vision for artificial general intelligence and introduced Gemini for Science tools for research support.

Google rolls out Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Pro set for next month
Google unveiled its next-generation AI model strategy for Gemini 3.5, rolling out Gemini 3.5 Flash first while planning to release Gemini 3.5 Pro next month. At its I/O 2026 developer event in California, Google made Flash the default model for the Gemini app and AI Search mode. The company said Flash targets a balance of speed, cost and performance, while Pro will handle deeper reasoning and longer context tasks.
