[Digital Today intern reporter Seung-a Yoo] Images of a Lenovo model believed to be the first product under Google's new laptop brand Googlebook have leaked.

TechRadar reported on Sunday local time that the leaked device is the "Lenovo Googlebook 15". It is the first time Google's premium artificial intelligence laptop strategy unveiled in May has surfaced in physical hardware form.

The newly surfaced images are primarily promotional renders rather than a specification sheet. They still show key directions such as the exterior design, user environment, port layout and keyboard design. The body has thin bezels and a notched webcam at the top, and the webcam includes a privacy shutter. Speakers supporting Dolby Atmos sit on both sides of the keyboard, and a large trackpad is also visible.

The keyboard includes a dedicated Gemini key. It appears to correspond to Microsoft's Copilot button. The caps lock key also includes a launcher function. A Googlebook logo is placed below the left control key, suggesting Google's direct involvement in the hardware implementation.

The port selection is relatively ample. It includes HDMI, two USB-C ports, USB-A, a card reader and a 3.5 mm jack, and the hinge appears to open to about 160 degrees. Smartphone-style status icons are placed at the top of the screen and a taskbar at the bottom. A "G" button serving as a start button is also visible.

One point that stands out in the leak is that the launcher icons include Adobe Premiere Pro. That is read as a sign that Googlebook is targeting the running of heavier applications than Chromebooks. Google previously introduced Googlebook as a higher-end line than Chromebooks, saying it runs Android and ChromeOS apps together and puts AI features at the forefront.

Lenovo is also said to be preparing a 2-in-1 tablet-style Googlebook with a detachable keyboard, rear kickstand and magnetic stylus, in addition to a laptop form factor. The structure resembles Microsoft's Surface. Digital Citizen first spotted the leak, and Android Authority rechecked it and reported it. Digital Citizen said Lenovo could officially unveil a Googlebook model at IFA in September.

Market reaction is split between anticipation and doubt. After the Google I/O 2026 announcement, Googlebook saw almost no additional information for some time and its presence faded, and reactions continued that the product name itself was unfamiliar. Some online users gave positive assessments of the newly leaked images, but many still did not understand the product's identity, with reactions such as, "What is Googlebook, is it a high-performance Chromebook?"

Concerns about pricing persist. As the second half of 2026 approaches, the burden of RAM prices is rising, and price sensitivity across laptops has also increased. For Googlebook to establish itself as a premium product line, it would need to prove not only its AI features but also its price, usability and differentiation from existing Chromebooks.

Since the announcement, Googlebook has also faced pushback against an AI-heavy strategy. Some users reacted negatively to the AI focus of the lineup, and some have raised the possibility that Google, mindful of such public sentiment, may have started to slow its pace after the unveiling. Even after this leak, reactions said evaluations of the exterior were acceptable, but criticism that the name is odd and concerns that the price will be high continue.

That makes the official unveiling expected in September likely to be a stage not just for a new product announcement but for confirming Googlebook's market positioning. Initial reactions are likely to diverge depending on how convincingly Google and Lenovo present real-world use cases, app compatibility and the need for AI features.
