Samsung strategy meeting shifts from crisis response to AI-native push
Samsung Electronics\' global strategy meeting has shifted in tone from last year\'s emergency management to a companywide AI transformation drive, backed by a recovery in results and a return to the top spot in DRAM. The company plans to apply AI across all work areas, from R&D to production, marketing and support. It will also formally adopt external generative AI services and expand training for executives and employees this year.

Samsung Electronics is moving to counter rivals in the next-generation high-bandwidth memory market by bringing base die production in-house. As HBM4 increasingly requires foundry processes on the base die, Samsung is highlighting its ability to combine design, foundry and packaging in a turnkey approach. The company has signed an MOU with AMD for primary HBM4 supply and is discussing broader cooperation with Nvidia, while challenges such as wafer warpage and low yields remain.

AI chip cost breakdown shows memory share reaches 63 percent
Memory accounted for as much as 63 percent of AI chip component costs in the fourth quarter of 2025, an estimate showed. Epoch AI examined AI chips designed by Nvidia, AMD, Google and Amazon and estimated the memory share rose from 52 percent in the first quarter of 2024. In dollar terms, memory-related spending climbed to about $32 billion in 2025 from about $12 billion in 2024. The figures are estimates with stated uncertainty ranges.
