K-AI Partnership launches to mobilise private sector capabilities
A private-sector artificial intelligence alliance has launched in South Korea, aiming to become a collaboration platform to create new business opportunities and new global markets in the AI era. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea AI & Software Industry Association held the launch ceremony for the K-AI Partnership in Seoul on April 28. About 150 companies and institutions, including AI developers and suppliers and demand firms in manufacturing and finance, are participating.

Competition in large language models is intensifying as leading AI companies in the United States and China release new systems more frequently. OpenAI unveiled GPT-5.5 and began distributing it to paying ChatGPT users, while Anthropic launched Claude Opus 4.7. China’s DeepSeek released preview versions of V4 and Moonshot AI unveiled Kimi-K2.6. The coding AI market is also being reshaped by capital-heavy companies, including SpaceX securing an option to acquire Cursor for $60 billion.

LG Uplus to showcase 10 South Korean AI startups at MWC 2026
LG Uplus said on Feb. 18 it will use MWC 2026 in Barcelona next month to present 10 South Korean AI startups on the global stage. The firms will take part in the 4YFN event to discuss technology cooperation and business links with global companies and investors. LG Uplus will support participation costs such as flights, accommodation and booth rental fees, and plans to expand global support tied to its Shift open innovation programme.
