The Korea Association of World Politics and Information (KAWPI) will hold its 2026 third Global Digital Forum on Sept. 8 at Meeting Room B of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the theme “Seeking a discourse on post-sovereign AI: Where should South Korea’s future national AI strategy head?”

Co-organised by KAWPI and the Center for Future Warfare Studies, the forum will look at AI use in the private and public sectors and the direction of national strategy, against the backdrop of rapidly changing international and national environments driven by the spread of generative and agent AI.

With “sovereign AI 2.0” as a key topic, it will review the status and challenges of sovereign AI strategies pursued so far. It will also discuss new developments and major issues stemming from recent changes.

The forum will consist of 2 presentation sessions and a panel discussion. In the first session, Sung Nak-ho (성낙호), a director at Naver Cloud, and Kim Dong-hwan (김동환), chief executive of FortyTwoMaru, will present from a private-sector perspective. In the second session, Lee Won-tae (이원태), a professor at Kookmin University, and Shim Seung-bae (심승배), a research fellow at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, are set to present from a public-sector perspective.

The panel discussion will include Lee Kyung-il (이경일), chief executive of Saltlux, Ha Jung-woo (하정우), former senior secretary for AI future planning, Baek Seo-in (백서인), a professor at Hanyang University, Choi Jung-joo (최정주), chief executive of Konan Technology, and Kim Jung-geun (김정근), executive managing director at the HAI headquarters of HECTO Group. They will discuss South Korea’s national AI strategy and how to respond in the post-sovereign AI era.
