U.S. Treasury sanctions Iranian exchange Bitbank over bitcoin fund moves

The U.S. Treasury has added Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Bitbank to its sanctions list, targeting what it describes as networks used to move bitcoin to help Iran evade sanctions. The action is part of the Trump administration’s “Operation Economic Outcast” campaign of economic pressure on Iran. The Treasury also designated Iranian financier Babak Zanjani, his software firm, and three associates. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move shows crypto financing is not beyond U.S. reach.

Dubai investor says he has no plans to buy XRP now, citing market cap as hurdle

Dubai investor Royal Kain (로열 케인) says he does not plan to invest in XRP at current prices, arguing its market capitalisation is already large and limits further upside compared with smaller cryptocurrencies. He says XRP has no product or revenue and prefers small-cap coins with growth potential. XRP has been volatile in recent weeks and remains well below levels cited as its 2025 peak. AI infrastructure boom fallout: data centre e-waste could pile up to 617 million tonnes by 2050

The spread of artificial intelligence could fuel a new electronic waste problem, with AI-related retirements of servers, GPUs and supporting power, cooling and networking equipment adding up to 395 million to 617 million tonnes by 2050, Basel Action Network estimates. The group says broader infrastructure should be counted, not just servers. It also highlights limited global recycling capacity and risks from informal processing, and notes the United States has not ratified the Basel Convention.
