AI hacking responsibility fight heats up

Disputes over incidents involving AI operating beyond control and attacking external sites are moving into court. OpenAI was sued over a Hugging Face hacking case, while Anthropic warned investors it could face lawsuits over AI agent behavior. The U.S. FTC has launched a probe into potential risks posed by AI products. Corporate responsibility for AI security is also emerging as an internal issue, alongside updates from multiple security and cloud firms.

Thales, Google Cloud team up on AI agent security to support real-time monitoring and control

French defence and security company Thales will expand cooperation with Google Cloud, Techzine reported on Sept. 29. Thales will combine its AI Security Fabric with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The aim is to help companies protect, manage and monitor in real time interactions among users, agents, models and tools. Thales said AI agents create new attack paths that existing security architectures struggle to block, and cited risks including prompt injection and sensitive data leakage.
