[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Microsoft on Oct. 29 released global customer cases related to what it calls Frontier Transformation, in which AI is changing the makeup of business.
Microsoft said Frontier Transformation focuses on a shift that prioritises business outcomes over technology adoption.
Microsoft has stressed human ambition, intelligence and trust in its Frontier Transformation push. To support that, it offers Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft IQ and Agent 365 solutions.
Copilot is a central space where humans and AI interact. Microsoft IQ accumulates and expands intelligence within an organisation while protecting unique differentiation. Agent 365 provides trust and observability across every layer of the technology stack to support agent governance and management and security.
The cases Microsoft released on the day included Krafton, a major South Korean game company.
Microsoft said Krafton used AI to cut the time to recognise security alerts by about 95 percent to within 1 minute. Investigation work that previously took tens of minutes can now be handled in about 3 minutes, and about 95 percent of report-writing work was automated.
Krafton combined Microsoft Security Copilot and Microsoft Defender XDR with its own systems and data to automate alerts, investigations and reporting. That reduced repetitive work for security experts and allowed them to focus on real threat response and key security decision-making.
Automaker Volkswagen expanded Microsoft Copilot to more than 330,000 employees. Monthly active users of Copilot Chat surpassed 300,000. Employees are using Copilot with Work IQ applied to reflect organisational work context in decision-making and knowledge-based work. The company is also expanding an Intelligent Data Foundation based on Microsoft Fabric to improve the search, understanding and use of enterprise-wide data.
Fujitsu automated about 75 percent of initial responses and inquiry classification at a service desk that receives about 300,000 inquiries a year. It is expanding Copilot to about 100,000 employees worldwide, and the usage rate has exceeded 90 percent.
Global manufacturing company KOHLER improved code releases by 25 percent and cut errors by 75 percent using GitHub Copilot. Microsoft Copilot usage stands at 98 percent, and employees are saving an average of 2 to 5 hours a month by quickly finding answers they need and making decisions in the course of work.
Microsoft also cited the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), U.S. natural gas infrastructure company Williams, biopharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb, Brown University Health, global financial services company BNY, electronic signature and contract management company Docusign, data, insight and consulting company Kantar, and supply chain software company Kinaxis as notable Frontier Transformation cases.
