Tour de France battles heatwave near 40 degrees at Barcelona start
The Tour de France opens on July 4 in Barcelona in extreme heat, with temperatures forecast to reach 33 degrees on the first day and approach 40 degrees in later stages. Organisers say rider and spectator safety is the top priority and pointed to the UCI heat protocol, which can allow schedule changes or suspension. MSIT to step up quantum cooperation with Canada, UK and EU around Quantum Korea
South Korea will expand cooperation on quantum technologies with Canada, Britain and the European Union, including joint research, talent exchanges, industrialisation, trials and standardisation. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held government-to-government dialogues and roundtables around Quantum Korea 2026 to discuss cooperation. It reviewed existing programmes with Canada, discussed links between initiatives with Britain, and talked with the EU about Horizon Europe participation and stronger ties among quantum clusters.

BYD beats Tesla again, delivers 557,090 EVs in Q2 to regain global top spot
BYD delivered 557,090 battery electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2026 to regain the lead in the global BEV market. Tesla deliveries for the same period are estimated at about 396,500, leaving BYD ahead by more than 160,000 vehicles. BYD attributed the renewed gap to expanding overseas sales and said overseas sales could reach 1.5 million in 2026, above its official target of 1.3 million.
