SpaceX Falcon 9 reshapes space launch market, giving U.S. overwhelming edge
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket has changed the cost structure and market share of the global launch vehicle market by combining reusability with a high launch frequency, an analysis said. Researchers who studied more than 6,700 launches from 1960 to 2025 said the United States now carries more than three-quarters of total mass delivered to orbit and has sharply increased its share of annual global payload mass. They said Europe faces a narrowing choice between reliance on low-cost U.S. launch services and expanding its own, costlier technology.
