AI scientists gather for AI4Sci Korea 2026 conference

South Korea will hold its first international academic conference in the AI-for-science field, bringing together researchers and industry experts. The Ministry of Science and ICT will host AI4Sci Korea 2026 in Seoul from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. About 600 participants from 19 countries will present about 220 papers. The programme includes 15 session tracks, keynote speeches and policy forums, along with special sessions and an AI hackathon.

Card-free EV charging market opens as automakers and operators vie for early lead

A pilot rollout of plug-and-charge at public fast chargers at highway rest stops is set to begin in September, sharpening competition between automakers and charging operators for EV customers. The system enables automatic authentication, charging and payment without membership or credit cards, using digital certificates and encryption keys. As authentication is unified under a government system, membership card models lose ground and companies are expected to compete using vehicle features and charging-station operations.
