Distributed AI gains attention as response tool for workforce shortages in industry

Distributed AI is emerging as a key option for industrial sites facing growing labour shortages, as robots and equipment increasingly need to make on-the-spot decisions. Access Partnership said autonomous industrial operations could generate more than $23 billion a year in economic value by 2035, and companion and assistive robots more than $5.9 billion. The report also put total annual value across industry, care and export devices at over $50 billion by 2035.

MachinaRocks applies AI operations environment to military battlefield network for first time, tests at UFS

MachinaRocks said it worked with South Korea\'s Joint Chiefs of Staff to apply its AI operating system, Runway, to the Korean Joint Command and Control System and validate it during the 2026 Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise. The project built infrastructure to develop and operate AI models inside the closed battlefield network. The military operated an in-house service, GeDAI J, and tested AI-assisted information search and operational use in the field.

Equinix to expand AI infrastructure connectivity, backs FuriosaAI global push

Equinix is working with South Korean AI chipmaker FuriosaAI to expand the AI ecosystem. FuriosaAI has deployed servers based on its second-generation AI accelerator, Renegade, at an Equinix data centre in Lisbon, Portugal, to support overseas market entry. The companies are reviewing broader cooperation in South Korea as FuriosaAI pursues mass production of 100,000 accelerator cards. Equinix is also expanding its distributed AI hub strategy and has unveiled Fabric Intelligence to automate network operations.
