No AI without data sovereignty, Synology sets out three-pillar strategy on data, security, recovery
Synology Managing Director Mike Chen (마이크 첸) said companies cannot treat AI as optional but warned that adopting AI without properly controlling vast legacy data can undermine data sovereignty. Speaking at a Computex 2026 keynote in Taipei, he cited a Gartner survey showing widespread employee use of personal AI and disclosures of pasting sensitive company data into external tools. He outlined Synology’s three-part approach: data ownership, security AI and trusted disaster recovery.

EU unveils tech sovereignty package targeting U.S., China big tech, declares self-reliance in chips, AI and cloud
The European Union has unveiled a new regulatory package aimed at increasing self-reliance in semiconductors, artificial intelligence and cloud services. The plan seeks to reduce dependence on U.S. and Chinese technology firms and bring control of key digital infrastructure inside Europe. It focuses on critical infrastructure such as hospitals, energy networks and public services, and requires approval by the EU’s 27 member states to take effect.

Synology unveils new products from NAS to AI agents at Computex 2026
Synology took part in Computex 2026 in Taipei from June 2 to 5, rolling out new products spanning data storage, protection and AI solutions. It showcased XS+/XS and FS enterprise storage, the PAS7700 active-active all-flash NVMe system and the GS3400 scalable object and file storage. Synology also introduced Synology Tiering and new data reduction features, and unveiled AI solutions including a DSM Agent. It added platform support in data protection and expanded its cameras and home lineup.
