South Korea, Indonesia join hands on AI basic society with digital MOU from summit

South Korea and Indonesia agreed to cooperate to realise people’s basic rights through artificial intelligence technology and to narrow the digital divide, following a summit between their leaders. The Ministry of Science and ICT said the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on digital development cooperation and would strengthen cooperation to expand an “AI basic society”, including building high-performance computing infrastructure. The leaders jointly announced an initiative for a global AI basic society coalition.

Nasdaq-listed CIMG to buy core assets of DeFi protocol iZumi Finance

Nasdaq-listed CIMG (Creative Investment & Management Group) has signed a contract to acquire core assets of DeFi protocol iZumi Finance. iZumi Finance provides liquidity services on Ethereum, BNB Chain and multiple Layer 2 networks. CIMG plans to integrate DeFi technology into its existing financial services ecosystem, aiming to improve asset management efficiency and accelerate expansion in the Web3 sector. CIMG began in coffee and food and beverage and has shifted its focus to cryptocurrency and digital health.

PIPC holds on-site meeting to rationalise rules to boost use of healthcare data

South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission held an on-site meeting on Monday with the Ministry of Health and Welfare to rationalise personal data rules in the health and medical sector. The meeting followed discussions on “K-Bio core regulatory rationalisation” and aimed to hear field-level regulations and institutional difficulties in using health data and to discuss improvements. Participants presented AI development cases and debated proposals to expand data sharing and use.
