Fintech industry group calls for public STO use, review of development gains sharing and leasehold loan application

The Korea Fintech Industry Association on April 28 held a forum on building an inclusive digital economy and fostering a sustainable digital asset industry through public tokenised securities (STO) models. Participants said STOs could improve investment access and strengthen transparency through blockchain-based trading. Speakers called for stronger institutional foundations such as investor protection and disclosures. Proposals included linking public development gains to households and tokenising jeonse deposits to improve liquidity.

Galaxy Digital CEO says U.S. CLARITY Act likely to pass by June

U.S. cryptocurrency regulation bill CLARITY could become law as early as June, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz said. He said the bill may be finalized in May and move to a signing stage in June. The measure sets standards for digital assets, creating a national regulatory framework and dividing oversight by classifying some assets as securities and others as commodities. The process has slowed in the Senate amid stablecoin provisions and bank concerns.

BitMine buys 101,901 more ether, total holdings rise to 5,078,386 ETH

BitMine Immersion Technologies bought an additional 101,901 ether last week, lifting its total holdings to 5,078,386 ETH. CoinDesk reported the holding equals about 4.21 percent of ether in circulation and the purchase is worth about $236 million at current prices. Chairman Tom Lee called crossing 5 million ether an important milestone toward securing 5 percent of supply. The company said it stakes about 3.7 million ether and is expanding staking services.
