An early '1XRP=1BTC' sell order posted on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has drawn renewed attention.

On Oct. 24, blockchain outlet U.Today reported that the order was registered on XRPL's built-in decentralised exchange (DEX) on Jan. 1, 2014, and has been cited as a symbolic moment in the XRP community ever since.

The anecdote drew attention after XRP treasury firm Evernorth recently reintroduced it on X, formerly Twitter. Evernorth said a wallet named 'FuzzyBear' was activated on Feb. 21, 2013, seven weeks after XRPL began operating. The wallet posted an order the following Jan. 1 to exchange 1 XRP for 1 BTC.

The order was not filled. That was because the price of 1 bitcoin was far higher than 1 XRP even at the time. The order record remains on-chain. An X user, FuzzyBear, also confirmed that he placed the sell order but it was not filled. He added that he cannot access the wallet now, so he would not be able to recover the assets even if the order were filled.

Evernorth interpreted the order as a symbolic case showing that XRP was designed to complement limitations of existing blockchains. It said XRP was designed to provide faster payments, sharply lower fees and a built-in decentralised exchange.

The anecdote later took hold in the XRP community like a crypto folktale and became inspiration for community projects and the meme token 'FUZZ'. That is why it remains part of XRPL history despite the order never being filled.

Evernorth's recent moves have also drawn attention. The company completed a business combination with Armada Acquisition Corp II in September and began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker 'XRPN' from Oct. 12. The company holds about 473 million XRP and aims to use that capital across the XRP ecosystem.

XRPL was developed with inspiration from bitcoin. David Schwartz (데이비드 슈워츠), Jed McCaleb (제드 매케일럽) and Arthur Brito (아서 브리토) sought to build a better structure that improved bitcoin's limitations, and aimed for a more sustainable digital asset specialised for payments.

The fact that a single unfilled order remained a community symbol shows that XRPL is a network where technical design and user culture have accumulated together. Evernorth bringing up the case again is also seen as highlighting both the XRP ecosystem's historical dimension and plans for its use.

Feb 21, 2013: seven weeks after the XRP Ledger went live, a wallet was activated and named Fuzzybear. New Year’s Day 2014: it offered 1 XRP for 1 BTC. That order became a symbol for a community that has grown to 20k+ members. @SagarCBO on @fuzzy_xrp, the quiet years, and why we’re saying thank you at @RippleSwell week 2026.
