Five trends seen during the latest earnings season could determine investment opportunities for the rest of 2026, CNBC reported on Aug. 6. Jim Cramer (짐 크레이머) highlighted resilient consumers, AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, mergers and acquisitions and healthcare. He said investors should focus on broad market themes rather than individual companies. Cramer cited Capital One, American Express, Ralph Lauren and Williams Sonoma, and also named Lam Research, KLA and Applied Materials, as well as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson.

Mara posts $611.3 million Q2 net loss hit by bitcoin price drop
Bitcoin miner Mara (MARA) swung to a net loss of $611.3 million in the second quarter, hurt by a 28 percent drop in the average bitcoin price. The company said its quarterly bitcoin output was the highest in more than a year, but the price decline outweighed a 3 percent increase in production. Mara held 35,577 bitcoin worth $2.1 billion at fair value as of June 30. It is also expanding AI and HPC infrastructure.

Lotte Chemical posted second-quarter operating profit of 110.1 billion won on revenue of 5.69 trillion won, returning to profit from a year earlier. Revenue rose 39.2 percent and operating margin improved to 1.9 percent. The company cited production optimisation and profitability-focused operations amid supply chain uncertainty. Advanced materials posted 132.5 billion won operating profit. The firm is pursuing restructuring centred on its Daesan and Yeosu plants and advancing a Yulchon compounding plant.
