U.S. automakers fall silent on EVs as China rolls out new models
U.S. legacy automakers have sharply reduced announcements and public references related to electric vehicles, prompting criticism that their EV strategies are effectively retreating. CleanTechnica reported that companies once issued far more EV press releases than their actual sales share. The shift is linked to Tesla’s rise, then weaker-than-expected market response and sales. The re-election of President Donald Trump has also increased policy pressure, encouraging firms to scale back programs or avoid comments.

Is driving a plug-in hybrid in 2026 an in-between choice
Battery electric vehicles retain strengths in efficiency and maintenance convenience, but a driver case suggests a plug-in hybrid can be a more practical choice depending on charging conditions and travel patterns. Cleantechnica on Sept. 5 introduced a family that has used both types. The writer cited EV simplicity and lower maintenance, while noting plug-in hybrids are more complex. Long-distance trips with bikes reduced EV range, prompting a switch to a 2026 Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid.

EV batteries keep over 90 percent capacity after 150,000 km; seven models stand out
Electric vehicle batteries still keep the low-90 percent range of their initial capacity after about 150,000 km of driving, an analysis showed. EV diagnostics firm Aviloo compared retention rates for 20 major EV models using more than 500,000 battery health checks conducted from 2022 to 2026 across North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The results indicate degradation is generally gradual, though differences by model were large.
