Why Binance, Telegram and others went to Kazakhstan as tech figures skirt regulation
Astana is drawing attention as a new base for global tech, with Binance, Telegram and Balaji Srinivasan expanding in Kazakhstan, Business Insider reported. Srinivasan opened a resident startup community and relaunched his Network School at the Astana Hub. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao visited and the firm signed three agreements with the government. Telegram opened its first local office and an AI institute. Kazakhstan has introduced new visas and pursued immigration reforms, amid mention of some figures’ regulatory troubles elsewhere.

China opens door to private satellite IoT with commercial trial approval for Geely affiliate GeeSpace
China has granted Geely-affiliated space company GeeSpace approval for the country’s first commercial trial of private satellite Internet of Things services. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology gave Zhejiang GeeSpace Technology a two-year trial period, enabling it to provide low-power, wide-area connectivity for sectors including smart transport, marine fisheries, energy and water infrastructure. The ministry called satellite IoT an important complement to broadband satellite services and said the trial could spur more private participation.

Baek Kyung-hoon meets Kazakh minister to discuss AI and science cooperation
Baek Kyung-hoon (배경훈), deputy prime minister and science minister, met Kazakhstan\'s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek (사야사트 누르벡) in Seoul and discussed cooperation in AI and science and technology. The Ministry of Science and ICT said the meeting took place on Aug. 12. The two sides agreed to expand bilateral cooperation around the first Korea-Central Asia summit, due in Seoul in September.
