U.S. researchers flag five misconceptions about AI-blockchain combination
Researchers from major U.S. universities said industry debate around combining artificial intelligence and blockchain includes exaggeration and set out five common misconceptions. They said blockchain cannot detect AI-generated content by content alone, decentralisation does not remove algorithmic bias, and giving AI agents wallets does not make them autonomous economic actors. They also said recording data on a blockchain does not guarantee original data reliability, and decentralisation may not cut AI costs.

Waymo, Tesla were preceded by a car that hit 180 kph in autonomous driving in 1995
When people think of self-driving cars, Tesla or Waymo often come to mind, but the technology’s roots go back to the 1970s. One early test vehicle was developed in Japan in 1977 and drove using rooftop cameras. German research later achieved higher-speed autonomous runs and long-distance tests, including a 1995 Mercedes trip that was 95 percent self-driven at up to 180 kph. U.S. universities and DARPA competitions also pushed progress.

Tesla FSD safety claims questioned; some internal AI staff say they do not trust it
A Reuters review found Tesla’s promoted safety statistics for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system were based on a comparison using different crash measures. Researchers and former Tesla staff interviewed were sceptical of claims that FSD is up to 10 times safer than human drivers. Some former data labelers and an autonomy engineer said they would not trust the system. The review also cited reports of testing and mapping practices and growing regulatory scrutiny.
