Hypersonic missile startup Castelion raises $800 million in Series C funding
Castelion, a hypersonic missile developer headquartered in Torrance, California, raised $800 million in a Series C funding round, Axios reported on Aug. 20 local time. The round valued the company at $13 billion. JPMorgan Strategic Investments Group, Andreessen Horowitz and Carlyle led the investment, with Lightspeed, Lavrock Ventures, Altimeter, General Catalyst, Interlagos and T. Rowe Price also participating.

Korea Investment & Securities says retail financial product balances top 100 trillion won
Korea Investment & Securities said on May 20 that balances in financial products held by individual clients have surpassed 100 trillion won. It said the result reflects a product lineup focused on returns and its asset management services. Balances rose from 41.2 trillion won in 2022 to 85.07 trillion won in 2025 and exceeded 100 trillion won as of May. The firm also reported steady client inflows and rising new customer numbers.

Uber considers buying control of Kakao Mobility?
Uber and Kakao Mobility both appeared to distance themselves from reports that Uber is weighing an acquisition of management control of Kakao Mobility. Uber was reported to have conveyed its intent to the major shareholder side and to be conducting due diligence in connection with a possible stake purchase. Kakao Mobility cited lack of knowledge, while a local Uber Taxi official said there was no official position and that it was being checked.
