Buterin mentions Bitcoin credit in Ethereum UTXO review, Cardano founder bristles

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson reacted publicly with a GIF after the reports. Cardano uses an extended UTXO model for smart contracts, and some in the Cardano camp say Ethereum’s direction resembles a design they have long pursued.

Binance doubles portfolio margin leverage for XRP and RLUSD to 10 times, users should review existing positions

Binance will raise the maximum portfolio margin leverage for XRP and RippleUSD (RLUSD) from 5 times to 10 times, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 18. The change takes effect on Aug. 21 and a system update is expected to take about 30 minutes. The adjustment improves collateral efficiency for RLUSD but also affects the unified maintenance margin ratio, uniMMR. Binance warned users to recalculate collateral and margin before the change to avoid order cancellations or forced liquidations.

Cardano to pursue two-stage Dijkstra upgrade through 2027 to boost throughput and speed finality

Cardano will pursue its Dijkstra network upgrade in two stages through 2027. The first phase focuses on expanding network throughput, while the second aims to shorten transaction finality times. The roadmap, disclosed via an Intersect document, targets code completion of Ouroboros Linear Leios in the fourth quarter of 2026 and introduction of Ouroboros Peras in the second quarter of 2027. A public testnet called Musashi Dojo is being used for validation.
