K-Capital Market Forum launches to identify global and digital competitiveness tasks

A new consultative body has been launched to draw up a 10-year growth strategy for South Korea\'s capital markets, focusing on identifying long-term tasks and building a policy roadmap. The Korea Financial Investment Association held the launch ceremony for the K-Capital Market Forum in Seoul on April 27. The forum will meet monthly from May, compile results into a policy report after a year of discussions, and submit it to the government and parliament in the first half of 2027.

Korea TV Home Shopping Association names Lim Kwang-gi as new chairman

Lim Kwang-gi (임광기), a former SBS editorial writer, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Korea TV Home Shopping Association. The association said on April 27 it finalised the appointment through resolutions by its board of directors and general meeting. Lim\'s term runs for three years from May 6. He previously served in several roles at SBS and later led the National Assembly Broadcasting station for three years from 2019.

FIU fines Coinone 5.2 billion won and imposes partial business suspension for 3 months

South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) said on April 13 it decided to impose a 5.2 billion won fine on digital asset exchange Coinone and suspend part of its business for three months. It also decided to issue a disciplinary warning to the chief executive. During the suspension, existing customers can trade without restrictions, while new customers face temporary limits on external virtual-asset transfers.
