Lim Kwang-gi (임광기), a former SBS editorial writer, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Korea TV Home Shopping Association.
The association said on April 27 it finalised Lim's appointment through resolutions by its board of directors and general meeting. His term runs for 3 years from May 6.
Lim graduated from Chung-Ang University's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and its graduate school. He worked as a visiting scholar at North Carolina State University in the United States. After entering the media industry in 1987, he served as head of SBS's New Media Department, head of its election broadcasting planning group and as an editorial writer.
In 1996, he won the Korea Journalists Association's Reporter of the Month award and the Korea Broadcasting Awards' reporting journalist award for an in-depth report on illegal fetal sex identification practices in obstetrics and gynecology clinics. From 2019, he served for 3 years as head of the National Assembly Broadcasting station, contributing to strengthening programme competitiveness and improving the channel's image. After retiring, he worked to train future journalists at Ewha Womans University's Journalism School.
More recently, he has continued to work across the journalism and media sector, including serving as vice chairman of the business media outlet Financial Today.
The Korea TV Home Shopping Association is a non-profit incorporated association registered with the Korea Communications Commission. Its members include GS Retail (GS Shop), CJ ENM (CJ OnStyle), Hyundai Home Shopping, Woori Home Shopping (Lotte Home Shopping), NS Shopping (NS Home Shopping) and Home & Shopping.
