Game IPs move off-screen as physical trading cards roll out
Game companies that grew around online and mobile titles are expanding into physical trading card games, aiming to extend use of their intellectual property beyond screen time and attract collectors and offline users. Krafton is preparing a PUBG: Battlegrounds card game with Cardmonster, while Riot Games will launch its LoL-themed Riftbound in South Korea in September. Krafton reveals details of five new titles for Gamescom 2026, including PUBG IP-based FPS
Krafton on Tuesday released key details on five games it will showcase at Gamescom 2026, to be held Aug. 26-30 in Cologne, Germany. The lineup includes an unannounced PUBG Studio title, along with NO LAW, Project ZETA, Age Twisters and TARAE: The Unbound. The PUBG Studio game is an FPS based on the PUBG: Battlegrounds IP. Krafton will operate a booth in Koelnmesse Hall 9.

Kakao Games sets rebound push with five new games, targets return to profit in Q1 2027
Kakao Games is reorganising non-core businesses under a new co-CEO structure and concentrating on launching five new titles. The company reported second-quarter revenue of 75 billion won and an operating loss of 23 billion won, with revenue down year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. It sees sales bottoming in the second and third quarters, expects a meaningful rebound from the fourth quarter, and aims to turn profitable in the first quarter of next year.
