Trump-backed American Bitcoin presses ahead with mining expansion despite wider losses
Trump-backed bitcoin miner American Bitcoin (ABTC) has completed the rollout of 11,298 ASIC machines at its Drumheller facility in Alberta, Canada. The expansion raises its total ASIC holdings to about 89,242 and boosts computing power to 28.1 exahash per second. The company recently posted a $59.5 million net loss for 2025\'s fourth quarter. Its shares rose about 11.7 percent to around $1.38.

Intel, Google step up cooperation on AI, cloud infrastructure
Intel and Google have formalised a multi-year cooperation to build next-generation AI and cloud infrastructure, the companies said on Thursday. They will strengthen the roles of CPUs and application-specific integrated circuit-based infrastructure processing units as heterogeneous AI systems expand. The partnership also aims to improve performance, energy efficiency and total cost of ownership across Google’s global infrastructure over multiple generations of Xeon processors, and to expand joint development of ASIC-based IPUs.

Solo bitcoin miner beats lottery odds to win about $210,000 reward
A small solo bitcoin miner with about 230 terahash per second solved block 943,411 despite odds of about 1 in 28,000 per day, earning about $210,000. The miner received 3.139 bitcoin, including a 3.125 BTC subsidy and 0.014 BTC in fees, via the solo.ckpool.org pool. CKpool developer Con Kolivas said it was the pool’s 312th solo block. Large miners have been selling bitcoin holdings in the first quarter.
