Intel foundry wins first named customer under Lip-Bu Tan to make Fortinet security chip

Intel has secured its first publicly named foundry customer under CEO Lip-Bu Tan by taking on production of Fortinet’s next-generation SP6 security chip. CNBC reported the chip will be manufactured on Intel 4. The contract is the first disclosed customer case since Tan became CEO in March 2025. Intel has said it is still seeking major customers for its most advanced manufacturing technology, while its largest confirmed foundry volume remains in-house.

Meta develops \'Vistara\' chip technology to reuse memory from older servers

Meta has developed a technology called Vistara that removes DDR4 memory from older servers and installs it in new servers, using its own CXL chip to share memory between applications without latency problems, The Register reported. A Meta paper said about 40% of its servers, or millions of machines, cannot expand memory. Meta said the approach cut incidents of work stopping due to memory shortages by 33%.
