Samsung Asset Management's KODEX US Semiconductors exchange-traded fund has newly added SK hynix American depositary receipts following a regular change to its underlying index.

Samsung Asset Management said on Sunday that the ETF added SK hynix ADRs following the September regular rebalancing of the MVIS US Listed Semiconductor 25 Index tracked by KODEX US Semiconductors. The inclusion weight is about 4.8 percent.

SK hynix ADRs were added to the index about two months after listing on the Nasdaq market on July 10.

The MVIS US Listed Semiconductor 25 Index is tracked by the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH), a U.S. semiconductor ETF. SMH also added SK hynix ADRs to its portfolio under the latest regular rebalancing.

Samsung Asset Management said SMH has about $70 billion in net assets, the largest among U.S.-listed semiconductor ETFs. That is about 1.5 times the net assets of the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), which ranks second, and about 23 times those of the Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (SOXQ), which tracks the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index.

KODEX US Semiconductors is a domestically listed ETF that tracks the same MVIS US Listed Semiconductor 25 Index as SMH. It invests in 25 global semiconductor companies listed on U.S. stock markets, including Nvidia, TSMC, Broadcom, ASML and Micron.

With the addition of SK hynix ADRs, the portfolio now includes high bandwidth memory (HBM) as well as graphics processing unit (GPU), application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), foundry and semiconductor equipment companies.

Donghoon Han (한동훈), a manager at Samsung Asset Management, said, "The semiconductor industry that supports AI is seeing various changes emerge at the same time amid a huge growth tide."
