KTOA holds 9th AI Future Value Forum, seeks ways to strengthen AX competitiveness

The Korea Telecommunication Operators Association held its ninth AI Future Value Forum in Seoul on April 16 under the theme of policy proposals for AI infrastructure investment to strengthen global AI transformation competitiveness. The industry-academia-research body includes major telecom operators and experts from academia, law and research institutes. Presentations covered tax credit effects for AI data and data centre costs and insights from MWC 2026, followed by a panel discussion on policy support and telecom operators’ roles.

First government-wide survey of AI training data holdings

South Korea will begin its first full inventory of artificial intelligence training data scattered across the public sector. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency will launch a cross-government survey from April 10 to map holdings by ministries and public agencies. The government plans to identify 100 high-use datasets and provide them through an integrated system, including data that could be used after processing. Some data will be provided via designated secure zones.

Meta halts all projects with Mercor after AI training data supply-chain breach

Meta has halted all ongoing projects with AI dataset provider Mercor and launched an investigation into a security incident, Wired reported on Thursday. The move follows concerns that AI training data may have been leaked. Mercor has supplied customised datasets to major AI developers including OpenAI and Anthropic through a large network of contract workers. The incident appears linked to a compromised LiteLLM update distributed by an attacker known as TeamPCP.
