Viva Republica, operator of Toss, is joining hands with blockchain-based AI data infrastructure company Poseidon to build an AI training data economy model.
Toss said on Thursday it will cooperate with Poseidon on a user-participation AI data business.
Poseidon will provide blockchain-based infrastructure to record and manage data contribution history and value. Toss plans to use its user base of about 30 million and its digital finance operating capabilities to provide an environment in which users can participate in building data.
The firms plan to launch Poseidon’s user-participation data contribution service Numo on the Toss mini app. Toss users will be able to take part in building AI training data such as voice, images and video within the app and receive rewards based on their contribution.
The data collected is first-person perspective data that captures how people speak, move and react in real environments. The firms see the data as potentially usable for physical AI training such as robots and autonomous driving.
The firms plan to verify the user-participation data model in South Korea and then pursue expansion into global markets.
Chang-hoon Seo (서창훈), an executive director in charge of new businesses at Toss, said, "We will create an environment where users can participate in the data economy more easily and naturally, and we will expand a structure in which the value they contribute can be rewarded transparently."
