MSIT to work with AMD on AI chips, help Korean NPUs expand globally

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will cooperate with AMD to expand the domestic AI semiconductor ecosystem, including linking AMD CPUs and GPUs with Korean NPUs to build and test heterogeneous AI computing infrastructure. The ministry said it signed an MOU with AMD in San Francisco. The sides also plan cooperation in AI-based scientific research through NAIS. AMD plans to set up an AI Center of Excellence in South Korea and support university programs and joint research.

RippleX engineering head says XRP Ledger agent transactions could hit 100 million within two years

RippleX’s head of engineering expects the number of agent-style transactions on the XRP Ledger to rise rapidly after recently surpassing 1 million. In remarks cited by The Block, Ayo Akinyele said the total could exceed 10 million and may reach 100 million within the next few years as agent development speeds up and infrastructure improves. Agent payments refer to AI software initiating transactions instead of humans approving them.

Zhipu builds 1-GW AI data centre using only Chinese-made chips; shares surge 37 percent

China\'s AI company Zhipu completed a 1-gigawatt AI computing centre run only on Chinese-made chips, South China Morning Post reported. The facility will be used to train and run inference for its GLM large language model series. Zhipu\'s Hong Kong-listed shares jumped 37 percent to close at 121.9 Hong Kong dollars. The company is also reported to have acquired Qubilas, an infrastructure software firm spun off from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
