AI data centres face power bottleneck, not servers; natural gas and electrical equipment stocks seen benefiting
The key variable in the race to build AI infrastructure is shifting from semiconductors and servers to securing electricity, as AI moves into large-scale operations. As AI data centres expand, the ability to deliver reliable power at the right place and time is becoming critical. Demand for natural gas is expected to rise, but multiple infrastructure steps are needed to turn gas into usable power. Developers also face permitting, grid connections and other bottlenecks.

U.S. midterm election nears as Korean battery makers face crossroads over AMPC tax credit defence line
With the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm election approaching, Korean battery makers face renewed political bargaining over tax credits. EV purchase subsidies have already been abolished, while the advanced manufacturing production credit, or AMPC, has been defended at a 25 percent credit through 2032. Companies with large North American bases are reshaping operations to withstand policy shifts, including moving from joint ventures to wholly owned plants and shifting production toward energy storage systems.

Dispute grows over jobs impact of UK AI data centre expansion
Britain is rapidly expanding AI data centres, but the number of permanent jobs created may be far smaller than industry forecasts, an analysis said. Think tank Verdant estimated about 4,400 jobs are directly supported by current data centres and projected about 10,400 direct operating jobs when planned facilities are included, well below techUK estimates. techUK disputed the methodology, while the government said value cannot be judged by jobs per megawatt alone.
