KT Cloud, Kakao cooperate on AI safety

KT Cloud said on Thursday it will set up an AI safety cooperation framework with Kakao to help ensure safe AI services. The companies will combine KT Cloud’s AI infrastructure platform capabilities with Kakao’s AI safety technology to support customers developing and operating generative AI services. As a first step, KT Cloud will integrate Kakao’s Kanana Safeguard guardrail model into its RAG-based platform RAG Suite 2.0 for public-sector customers.

AI cost concerns surge as OpenAI, Anthropic step up South Korea push

More companies are restricting employee use of AI tools after widely rolling them out, citing rising costs. Amazon, Walmart, Cisco, Uber and Meta are setting usage limits, curbing waste and steering staff to cheaper models as AI agents drive higher computing demand. Interest in low-cost models is growing, with surveys showing Chinese models leading U.S. rivals in token usage. Anthropic opened a Seoul office and OpenAI expanded activities in Korea, including an MOU on AI safety.

Science ministry, Anthropic sign MOU on global AI safety and security

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with AI research and development company Anthropic to cooperate on AI safety and cybersecurity. The ministry said it will analyse AI\'s impact on cyber attacks and defence and assess model safety and misuse risks in a Korean-language context. It also said it will strengthen cooperation on safety evaluations, including red-teaming of autonomous AI agents.
