SK Hynix to overhaul long-term supply contracts to prioritise volumes over price

SK Hynix is reviewing a new structure for long-term supply agreements, saying customers increasingly view securing volumes as a key risk. The company reported record quarterly revenue and operating profit for the first quarter of 2026 and said shortages of HBM, server DRAM and enterprise SSDs may persist, extending a price upcycle. It will bring forward the start of its Yongin cluster Phase 1 fab and accelerate NAND transitions and next-generation product rollouts.

Legal AI helps level playing field as B&H teams up with Korea Consumer Association

Law firm B&H and the Korea Consumer Association signed a memorandum of understanding on April 15 to promote consumer rights. Attendees included B&H managing partner Han Tae-hwa (한태화) and association officials, as well as Consumer Issues Research Institute head Jung Yong-soo (정용수). The partners plan to build tailored strategies for ADR and class actions, apply B&H’s legal AI Lexi.A to consumer services and predict new types of disputes to propose preventive solutions.

Memory big two poised for Q1 earnings surprise, step up business overhaul

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are expected to post first-quarter results above market expectations, as rising DRAM and NAND prices lift profits. Brokerages estimate Samsung’s operating profit at 41.3 trillion to 45.3 trillion won, and SK Hynix’s at 36.9 trillion to 39.4 trillion won. Samsung is linking foundry and HBM4 advances, while SK Hynix is preparing a U.S. ADR listing and discussing long-term supply contracts.
