Apple gears up for major hardware, software push in October

Apple is preparing a major product launch schedule in October, starting with the foldable iPhone Duo, according to NineToFiveMac. Preorders are set to begin on Oct. 16, with first deliveries on Oct. 23, and availability planned across nearly 100 countries and regions. Markets also expect new Macs, home products and an iPad mini update. On software, Apple confirmed iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1, while iOS 27.2 is already in testing.

Next iPad mini may get A20 Pro chip, OLED and camera changes

Apple’s next iPad mini could use the A20 Pro chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, a report said. Reference information and what appeared to be a product icon were found in Apple internal code, though final specifications could change. The design is expected to stay similar, while the front camera may move to the side for landscape use and a small speaker opening may be added. OLED and improved water resistance have also been expected.

U.S. iPhone 18 Pro Max teardown shows Qualcomm X80 modem, not Apple C2

A teardown of the iPhone 18 Pro Max sold in the United States found it uses Qualcomm\'s Snapdragon X80 modem rather than Apple\'s in-house cellular modem, 9to5Mac reported, citing TechInsights. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro uses its C2 modem, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max sold outside the United States also uses C2. Apple has not said why the U.S. model keeps a Qualcomm modem. TechInsights also identified Apple’s N1 wireless module and a new mmWave antenna module.
