KOSPI reclaims 8,000 after one day on institutional buying, up over 8 percent

South Korea\'s benchmark KOSPI surged more than 8 percent on June 9, reclaiming the 8,000 level after a steep fall a day earlier that triggered a circuit breaker and a sell-sidecar. The index closed up 612.52 points at 8,096.93, lifted by institutional buying and rebounds in heavyweight semiconductor shares. Institutions were net buyers, while individuals and foreigners sold. The won strengthened against the dollar in Seoul.
