Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) returned to net inflows despite falling prices.

Cointelegraph, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Oct. 7 that bitcoin spot ETFs recorded $119 million of net inflows on Oct. 6, rebounding from $90 million of net outflows the previous day.

Bitcoin rose above $86,600 on Oct. 6 before falling below $84,000. It is now around $83,100, down about 2.7 percent over 24 hours. ETF inflows resumed even as prices weakened, with spot investment demand moving in a different direction from short-term price action.

Ethereum spot ETFs, by contrast, showed clearer weakness. Ethereum spot ETFs recorded $202 million of net outflows on Oct. 6, sharply wider than about $51 million of net outflows a day earlier. That marked a sixth straight session of outflows, with cumulative net outflows estimated at about $408 million.

Profit-taking pressure was cited as a factor behind bitcoin's pullback. MorenoDV, a CryptoQuant analyst, pointed to increased profit-taking during bitcoin's rebound phase. He saw selling pressure rising as bitcoin traded well above $68,900, the estimated cost basis for active traders.

Conditions for an extended rebound were also presented. MorenoDV said fresh demand would need to absorb those sell orders for the market's recovery to continue. Inflows have resumed into bitcoin spot ETFs, but whether demand can persist enough to offset selling pressure in the spot market needs separate confirmation.

Fund flows for other cryptocurrency ETFs were mixed. XRP spot ETFs saw $3.1 million of inflows, while Solana spot ETFs posted $3.7 million of outflows. Zcash spot ETFs were flat on Oct. 6, with neither net inflows nor net outflows, after net outflows over the previous two sessions.

The moves show that funding preferences are diverging even within the cryptocurrency ETF market. Bitcoin spot ETFs drew inflows despite price weakness, while Ethereum spot ETFs saw widening outflows. That leaves the near-term focus on whether bitcoin demand can hold and whether outflows from Ethereum spot ETFs ease.
