107 bitcoin held for 12 years disappear as burned; tax and misdirected transfer theories spread
An unidentified entity sent 107 bitcoin held for more than 12 years to a burn address, making them permanently unusable. Cointelegraph said the coins were worth $8.5 million at the time. On-chain data showed five addresses moved the bitcoin to an old burn address starting with “11111”. The transfer drew attention because the coins were bought when bitcoin traded below $600, prompting theories ranging from tax-loss purposes to errors and illicit fund disposal.

Leica is expanding its traditionally black-and-silver design lineup with a modern Metal Gray colour. Leica Camera Korea said on May 29 it will release Metal Gray versions of the M11-P, Q3 and D-Lux 8 cameras, along with the Apo-Summicron-M 1:2/50 ASPH. lens, in stages. The M11-P goes on sale from May 29, while the Q3 and D-Lux 8 models are due on July 16.

Generative AI is being used more widely than ever ahead of the June 3 nationwide local elections in South Korea, including in opinion polling, broadcasters’ real-time vote count analysis and explanations, and deepfake monitoring. SBS and OpenAI Korea plan to use GPT-5.5 for real-time natural-language commentary during an election night broadcast. AI-based “silicon sampling” is also drawing attention in polling, while authorities are deploying AI models to detect deepfakes.
