Sam Altman still manages email himself, highlighting psychological barrier to adopting AI

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he still handles repetitive tasks such as sorting email himself even though AI can do them faster. Speaking on a podcast, he said people should delegate routine work like moving information between apps or managing to-do lists to AI, but breaking the habit is difficult. Altman called the behavior psychologically contradictory, noting familiar work patterns can outweigh efficiency. He said workplace change may lag even as AI adoption accelerates.

MSIT selects 2,496 basic research projects to expand opportunities for early-career researchers

South Korea will support 2,496 individual basic research projects with 152 billion won to expand entry and growth opportunities for early-career researchers. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it selected the projects after a second 2026 call and evaluation process and will begin funding on Sept. 1. Most projects are in the basic research category. Funding also covers challenge-type and strategic-type research, including work in AI, semiconductors and infectious diseases.

Korea Aerospace Administration to pursue localisation of five-seat hybrid vertical takeoff and landing aircraft

The Korea Aerospace Administration is moving to develop a domestically produced five-seat hybrid vertical takeoff and landing aircraft that uses both batteries and an engine. It plans to localise key technologies such as generators, avionics and distributed propulsion from 2028 to 2032 and to secure four prototype aircraft by the end of the project. The aircraft targets a range of at least 200 km, payload of at least 600 kg and flight time of at least 60 minutes.
