KT joins Defense AI Leaders Forum as co-chair, signs MOU
KT is moving to build a cooperation framework to lead AI innovation in the defence sector. The company joined the Defense AI Leaders Forum as a co-chair at its launch ceremony in Seoul and signed a three-party memorandum of understanding with the Korea Defense Innovation Technology Security Association and the Korea AI Association. The forum presented five core visions, including contributing to defence AI policy and strategy, developing key technologies, nurturing talent and establishing trustworthy AI systems.

KOSPI ends near 4,800 after 10th straight session of gains
South Korea's KOSPI climbed for a 10th straight session on Jan. 15, ending up 74.45 points, or 1.58 percent, at 4,797.55, after opening lower and later turning higher to close at the intraday high. The benchmark set a fresh record after topping the previous day's all-time high. Institutions and foreigners were net buyers, while individuals net sold more than 1.8 trillion won. The Kosdaq also rose.

SKT advances to second round of national AI evaluation
SK Telecom on Thursday said it was honoured to advance to the second-stage evaluation of an independent AI foundation model project and would continue efforts to help develop South Korea’s AI ecosystem. SKT said it will add multimodal capabilities and carry out additional model training in the second-stage evaluation, with a long-term goal of reaching a trillion-parameter scale. South Korea’s science ministry and related agencies disclosed first-stage results, selecting three teams for the second round.
