National Assembly presses Coupang over data leak as committees call emergency inquiries

South Korea’s National Assembly will hold emergency inquiries after a Coupang data breach involving more than 30 million customer records. The Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee will question government agencies and Coupang leaders on the cause and prevention plans. The Strategy and Finance Committee will question related agencies and Coupang about the widening gap between the company’s initial report of 4,536 leaked records and the confirmed 33.79 million cases. The Ministry of Science and ICT has begun a joint investigation.
