MSIT approves 2026 telecom disaster management plan
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT approved the 2026 basic telecom disaster management plan after its second review meeting. Improper items found in data centre inspections fell from 35 last year to 8 this year, and all were deemed adequate after alternative measures were reviewed. The plan strengthens safety management for telecom operators, value-added service providers and data centres, including upgraded facility standards, notification systems and fire prevention measures.

NH Nonghyup Bank wins first finance-sector patent for AI-based credit audit system
NH Nonghyup Bank said its AI Gamriyeok and EW-AR technologies have been registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office as the financial sector's first standardised AI-based credit audit process. The tools serve as core modules of the bank's AI credit audit system. The bank plans to apply the patent to build an AI-driven risk‑management ecosystem and launch AI Gamriyeok 2.0 next year. Its chief executive said the system will support proactive, data‑driven risk control.

Wall Street ends higher as bitcoin rise lifts tech risk appetite
The three major U.S. stock indexes finished higher as bitcoin rose nearly 5 percent and helped revive risk appetite in technology shares. Semiconductor and AI themes outperformed, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up 1.84 percent. Amazon unveiled its new AI chip, while Intel surged on expectations it may produce Apple’s low-end M series chips from 2027. Markets showed little reaction after Donald Trump introduced Kevin Hassett as a potential next Federal Reserve chair.
