[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Render images and key specifications for a device believed to be Samsung Electronics' next flagship smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, have been revealed. Core details including thickness, battery, display, water and dust resistance and chipset were leaked, drawing attention to Samsung's next wearable strategy.

On July 20 local time, IT outlet Engadget reported that prominent tech tipster Evan Blass disclosed render images and key specifications for the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 through his Substack, Leakmail.

The leak came two days ahead of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Unpacked event. Part of the product design had been revealed earlier this month, but this time it included images from various angles along with detailed specifications.

The most noticeable changes are durability and portability. According to the leaked material, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is said to support IP69K water and dust resistance, higher than the IP68 rating of the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra model.

The product is also reported to be about 12 percent thinner than its predecessor. It is interpreted as a change aimed at improving comfort while keeping the Ultra series' rugged design.

The battery and display are also expected to be strengthened. Battery capacity is expected to increase to 800 mAh from 590 mAh. Maximum display brightness is also said to improve to up to 5,000 nits from 3,000 nits. Longer battery life and outdoor visibility are raised as possible core strengths of the next model.

On performance, expectations were reaffirmed that Qualcomm's next-generation wearable platform will be used. Blass claimed the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 will carry a Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. That aligns with other recent leaks.

He also said the same chipset will be applied to the standard Galaxy Watch9. If the two products use the same platform, Samsung is expected to seek differentiation for the Ultra model mainly through hardware elements such as design, battery, display and durability.

Still, as the information was leaked ahead of an official announcement, final specifications could change. Pricing has also not been disclosed. Engadget said Samsung plans to reveal final specifications and pricing at the Unpacked event, adding that what is known so far needs to be confirmed through the official announcement.

The market sees key points to watch as how much Samsung improves real-world usability while maintaining the Ultra brand's premium image, and what differences it shows versus the Galaxy Watch9, which is also said to use the same chipset.
