Melania documentary team rejects bribery claims over $75 million budget

Amazon’s $75 million outlay for a documentary about U.S. first lady Melania Trump has sparked bribery suspicions, which the production team has strongly rejected, The Verge reported on Jan. 30. Amazon paid $40 million to the production company and spent another $35 million on promotion. Director Brett Ratner cited large-scale filming and music costs. The New York Times questioned the marketing budget. The Wall Street Journal reported Melania could personally receive $27 million from the licence fee.

Apple to release iPhone 18 base model in first half of next year - report

Apple has shifted its iPhone 18 release timetable to next year, a report said. iPhone 18 Pro and a foldable iPhone are expected to be unveiled in the second half of this year, while the standard iPhone 18 is slated for the first half of next year. The company is preparing at least 5 new iPhone models and plans to expand regular meetings with parts and materials suppliers at Apple Park.

Apple sees further AI researcher departures as Siri senior executive joins Google

Apple has seen at least 4 AI researchers leave in recent weeks, and Siri leaders have moved to Google and Meta, 9to5Mac reported on Jan. 30, citing Bloomberg. Bloomberg said Stuart Bowers, a senior executive who led Apple’s Siri project and also worked on its self-driving car project, joined Google DeepMind. The report said Bowers will lead development of the Gemini model at Google.
