Coupang says top-efficiency appliance rebates total 22.75 billion won, largest among online channels

Coupang said on March 30 that customers who bought products on its platform received rebates worth 22.75 billion won through the government’s “top-efficiency appliance rebate programme” run from July to December last year. It said the figure is estimated at about 20 percent of total rebates across online distribution channels over the same period, the largest for a single distributor. The programme refunds 10 percent of purchase costs, capped at 300,000 won per person.

Nexon signs Korea publishing deal with Blizzard for PC Overwatch

Nexon and Blizzard have signed a deal for Nexon to handle South Korean publishing of the PC game Overwatch, aiming to launch the service within 2026. Nexon will run localized live services and business operations for the Korean market, while Blizzard will provide the intellectual property and oversee game development. The companies also plan hyper-localized content, expansion of the PC bang ecosystem and additional local hiring.

KOSPI slumps more than 4 percent below 5,200; KOSDAQ down over 3 percent

South Korean shares opened sharply lower on Monday as international oil prices jumped amid uncertainty over the war in the Middle East. The KOSPI was down 4.44 percent at 5,197.22 by 9:11 a.m., after opening 4.73 percent lower. Foreigners and institutions were net sellers, while retail investors bought. Major stocks including SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics fell. The KOSDAQ slid 3.70 percent. The won weakened to 1,514.30 per dollar.
