Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission says mobile carriers improve emergency location data accuracy

South Korea’s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission said location accuracy and compliance rates for emergency location information provided by the country’s three mobile carriers improved. The commission published results of its 2025 quality tests covering cell tower, GPS and WiFi positioning across 170 sites nationwide. Accuracy improved across methods, while response times increased for cell tower and GPS. Apple iPhone results were included for the first time, and Apple said it plans to improve response times by early next year.

Vercel suffers partial customer data leak after breach at external AI tool Context.ai

Developer tools company Vercel suffered a leak of some customer data after a breach that began at Context.ai, an external product, it said. Hackers compromised Context.ai and used it to log into a Vercel employee Google Workspace account, gaining access to some customers’ environment variables. Vercel said the exposed data did not have its sensitive-variable protection feature enabled. The leak included information on hundreds of employees and several API keys.

April crypto hacking losses top $600 million, worst since February 2025

Crypto protocol hacking losses have surged in April, putting decentralised finance security risks back in focus. Blockchain outlet BeInCrypto reported losses topping $606.2 million in 18 days, the biggest monthly total since February 2025 and well above the $165.5 million recorded in the first quarter. KelpDAO and Drift Protocol accounted for most of the damage. DeFi total value locked fell after the KelpDAO hack, and analysts warned of broader impacts on trust and valuations.
