Satoshi Nakamoto warned of quantum computer threat in 2010; what countermeasures did he outline?

Satoshi Nakamoto, known as Bitcoin’s creator, was reported to have warned in 2010 about threats posed by quantum computers and to have outlined concrete responses. CoinPost said interest has revived in his old BitcoinTalk forum posts. Nakamoto argued that if the threat advanced gradually, there would be time to move to stronger algorithms. He described a user-led migration using wallet and client updates and also discussed responses to a scenario in which SHA-256 is broken.

South Korea steps up international quantum ecosystem cooperation, expands investment coordination

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said a government delegation attended the fifth meeting of the Quantum Development Group in London from March 31 to April 1. The group, launched in July 2024, discusses cooperation in investment, supply chains, industry outlook and technology protection. Thirteen countries took part. Delegates discussed strengthening research and investment security, expanding cooperation between governments and investors, and enhancing standardisation to promote industrialisation.

Franklin Templeton sets up crypto unit, steps up push for institutional investors

Franklin Templeton has acquired 250 Digital, a crypto investment firm spun out of CoinFund in January, and will expand its cryptocurrency investing business, the Wall Street Journal reported. The firm is led by former CoinFund executives Christopher Perkins and Seth Ginns and will be renamed Franklin Crypto after the deal closes. Terms were not disclosed. Franklin Templeton said it has more than 50 staff dedicated to digital assets.
