Samsung Electronics Service and LG Electronics have both dispatched special service teams to Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province, where damage from torrential rain has been concentrated. Each company has set up a mobile service base and is providing free cleaning, inspection and repair support for flooded home appliances, they said on Aug. 19.

Samsung Electronics Service set up a mobile service centre near the Dudok-myeon office in Geoje. It accepts reports of flooded appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines regardless of brand. When affected residents visit and apply, engineers go directly to the household for inspection. It has also deployed a bus equipped with mobile phone inspection equipment to clean, dry and check flooded phones for faults.

LG Electronics set up a flood service base in Gohyeon-dong, Geoje. Service managers dispatched to the site are inspecting flooded products regardless of manufacturer. In Geoje and Tongyeong, it is also operating a visiting service that goes directly to affected households. It is deploying dedicated flood-response vehicles equipped with specialised equipment to support cleaning, repairs and parts replacement.

Residents who have difficulty with on-site visits can receive the same services through each company’s customer centre or contact centre. If an application is made to Samsung Electronics Service’s contact centre for an inspection for flooded home appliances due to the torrential rain, an engineer visits. LG Electronics provides support through customer centre requests or visits to service centres.

The two companies plan to continue monitoring local damage conditions and review whether to dispatch additional service bases and expand operating areas.
