KT to work with KAIST and Dime Research on physical AI, pushing 'dark factory' commercialisation
KT will work with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and physical AI specialist Dime Research to develop, test and commercialise physical AI technologies, including an AI-based unmanned factory. The three will jointly pursue commercialisation of a 'Dark Factory' platform and look for physical AI business opportunities, as well as global expansion of 'K-physical AI'. They plan to take part for five years in a government-led R&D ecosystem programme.

Callers with phone service suspended for non-payment to get access to 109 suicide prevention line
South Korea will allow users whose outgoing mobile calls are suspended for unpaid telecom bills to access the 109 suicide prevention counselling line. The Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission will designate 109 as an emergency telecommunications number. Telecom operators will be required to connect such callers regardless of service status. Phone makers will also add 109 to emergency call lists, enabling lock-screen access.

UK considers allowing retail investors access to Polymarket and Kalshi after 7-year ban
Britain's Financial Conduct Authority is considering whether to ease restrictions that have limited retail investors' use of prediction markets, reports said. The review involves discussion over whether to relax a ban on binary options for retail customers in place since 2019. Platforms under consideration include Polymarket and Kalshi, which offer binary-options-style contracts on outcomes of events such as sports, politics and weather. The FCA has not lifted the ban and is still at the review stage.
