Korea to hold 2027 R&D budget strategy meeting, focus on funding restructuring

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Office of Planning and Budget held a strategy meeting on April 30 to discuss next year's research and development investment and the 2027 R&D budget. The government will allocate related budgets from an integrated national perspective to improve efficiency and consistency. It plans to restructure government R&D by linking spending cuts and efficiency measures to reinvestment, and to strengthen evaluations and inter-ministerial collaboration.

Krafton Q1 operating profit hits record high on PUBG IP growth

Krafton set quarterly records for both revenue and operating profit, supported by broad-based growth of its PUBG intellectual property. The company reported first-quarter consolidated revenue of 1.37 trillion won and operating profit of 561.6 billion won, up 56.9 percent and 22.8 percent from a year earlier. It said first-quarter operating profit equalled 53 percent of last year’s full-year total. PC and mobile revenue rose, while it also carried out share buybacks, dividends and share cancellations.
