Tving swings to profit in Q2 on 40 percent revenue growth

CJ ENM’s online video service Tving returned to profit in the second quarter. Revenue rose 40 percent from a year earlier to 140.7 billion won, while operating results swung to a 6.0 billion won profit from a 24.0 billion won loss. CJ ENM cited gains from the KBO season and hit original content that lifted subscribers and monthly active users. It expects weaker third-quarter results due to seasonal advertising factors and higher content costs.

Baek Gyeong-hoon visits Seoul Smart Shelter Center, stresses healthy digital-use skills

Baek Gyeong-hoon (배경훈), deputy prime minister and science and ICT minister, visited the Seoul Smart Shelter Center on Wednesday to review operations and hear difficulties raised by professional counsellors. The centre provides counselling and prevention education to address smartphone overdependence and supports healthy use, with 18 centres operating across 17 provinces and major cities. The ministry plans to expand education, counselling and digital detox programmes and analyse AI’s impact from a medium- to long-term perspective.

Bizplay, BQAI to cooperate on AX for business travel and expense management

Bizplay, a Webcash affiliate, will work with AI data intelligence company BQAI to develop a system that structures documents generated in business travel and expense management and automatically verifies spending details using AI. The companies signed a strategic partnership on Aug. 6 to advance AI-based work automation and services for corporate employees. They will jointly study converting unstructured data into usable formats and pursue proof of concept to validate compliance with rules.
