South Korea ministry holds AI safety public talk concert

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT held an "AI Safety Public Talk Concert" on Tuesday with the Telecommunications Technology Association and the Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute. The ministry said it is seeking policy measures to build an environment in which the public can use AI safely in daily life as it pushes its "AI for All" policy. The event featured lectures, a panel discussion and audience questions on AI innovation and risk responses.

Election Broadcast Deliberation Committee elects Lee Jong-su as chair, Won Jun-hee as vice chair

The Election Broadcast Deliberation Committee for South Korea's 9th nationwide local elections held its first meeting on Tuesday at the Broadcasting Hall in Mok-dong and elected Lee Jong-su as chair and Won Jun-hee as vice chair. It also adopted and published guidance for broadcasters to ensure fair election coverage, including compliance with reporting standards for election polls, limits on candidates' appearances and maintaining fairness and objectivity.

South Korea, Indonesia join hands on AI basic society with digital MOU from summit

South Korea and Indonesia agreed to cooperate to realise people’s basic rights through artificial intelligence technology and to narrow the digital divide, following a summit between their leaders. The Ministry of Science and ICT said the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on digital development cooperation and would strengthen cooperation to expand an “AI basic society”, including building high-performance computing infrastructure. The leaders jointly announced an initiative for a global AI basic society coalition.
