The Korea Artificial Intelligence Association said on Monday it had published on a dedicated webpage its views on South Korea's AI policies and projects, timed to the start of the annual parliamentary audit.
The association said the 51-page proposal includes draft questions and corrective demands for use by 17 standing committees and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, a register of 62 policy and project groups, and requests for government-wide data.
Based on public materials such as budget and settlement analyses by the National Assembly Budget Office, employment impact assessments and government announcements of policies and projects, the association presented key verification tasks and ways to improve systems. It said key areas for scrutiny include GPU allocation, AI computing infrastructure, artificial intelligence transformation in the public and manufacturing sectors, terms for using models and platforms, youth jobs and startup support.
In the proposal, the association stressed the need to disclose the final beneficiaries of AI funding and to ensure open terms of use for publicly supported infrastructure and models. It also called for AX projects to be designed around demand-side issues and on-site operations, and for expanding paid on-site experience for young people and their ability to choose career paths.
Hyun-chul Kim (김현철), chairman of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, said, "The results of the AI budget should be assessed not by the scale of spending but by the changes left on the ground." He added, "If public investment only ends up making the strong stronger, it is only half a success. Only when it leads to the growth of diverse companies, the operating capacity of demand institutions and young people's first careers does it become a technology for everyone."
