The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) said on Monday it has launched a "ransomware lifecycle response task force" to respond systematically to increasingly sophisticated ransomware attacks. The move follows the creation of a ransomware response team through a previous organisational reshuffle. The task force brings together experts in areas including analysis, investigation, cryptography, artificial intelligence, detection and forensics. It plans to identify key tasks for each response stage over the next 6 months and build an integrated response system.

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT forecast 2026 demand for public-sector software, ICT equipment and information security projects at 6.47 trillion won, up 4.2 percent from a year earlier. The number of projects is seen rising 5.6 percent to 16,274. Software build projects account for 76.7 percent of spending, while ICT equipment represents 16.7 percent. The ministry said information security-related demand will climb 22.5 percent to 973.3 billion won.
